Primary Purpose: Provides direct or consultation services to assigned students within all assigned districts.

 

Qualifications: Holds a valid Indiana license as an Occupational Therapist Assistant.

 

Special Knowledge/Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent time management, organizational and decision-making skills, effective interpersonal skills and leadership ability, ability to accept supervision and perform responsibilities in an efficient and effective manner.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

*Under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist-Registered (OTR)


 

  •  Works with the Case Conference Committee within assigned districts to develop, implement and/or evaluate student individual education plans.
     

  • Communicate with the Special Education and General Education teachers to ensure student needs are being met.
     

  • Provide direct one-to-one service to students in need of occupational therapy.
     

  • Provide training/professional development to classroom staff in the area of Occupational Therapy as it relates to student educational needs.
     

  • Adapt materials, curriculum and equipment to meet individual special needs.
     

  • Document all student and teacher contact regarding specific students.
     

  • Respond to requests for services in a timely manner.
     

  • Develop time schedules for approval by the OTR and/or County Director(s).
     

  • Attend in-services and training as required.
     

  • Adhere to all NEISEC policies and procedures.
